You need the device IP address to access the 8211/8212 web interface. The Algo Device Locator is the recommended method for locating Algo devices on the local network.
Note
Record the MAC address printed on the device label. All Algo devices have a MAC address that begins with
00:22:EE. Use this prefix to identify an Algo device in a network list or scan result.
Use one of the following methods to find devices on your local network and identify their IP and MAC addresses.
Use Algo Device Locator (Recommended)
Log in to your router or DHCP server and check the DHCP client list.
Use a network scanning tool.
Use a network management application to view DHCP-assigned IP addresses.
Open a terminal or command prompt and check your ARP table:
Windows:
arp -aLinux/macOS:
arp -aorip neigh
Using the Hostname URL
Using Algo Device Locator (Recommended)
Algo Device Locator finds Algo IP endpoints and displays their IP address, MAC address, hostname, and device details where available. It is available for Windows and macOS.
To find the device IP address using Algo Device Locator:
Go to Algo Device Locator.
Download the application for your operating system.
Install or open the application, then select Find Devices.
Locate the device by its product model and MAC address.
Record the displayed IP address.
Note
For best results, run Algo Device Locator from a computer on the same local network or VLAN as the device. Results can vary with firewall settings, VLAN configuration, routing rules, and multicast DNS support.
Using Your Network's DHCP Client List
Sign in to your router, DHCP server, or network-management application and locate the DHCP client list. Find the entry whose MAC address matches the device label, then record the assigned IP address.
Using a Network Scanning Tool
Run a network scan for the applicable subnet. Identify the device by matching its MAC address to the device label or by using the Algo MAC address prefix 00:22:EE.
Checking the ARP or Neighbour Table
After the device has connected to the network, you can check the local ARP or neighbour table and identify the entry by MAC address.

Accessing the Device Web Interface Using the Hostname URL
Note
Hostname access depends on multicast DNS (mDNS) and network configuration. It may not work on every network and should not be used as the primary method for locating the device. Use the device IP address whenever possible.
When your computer is on the same local network or VLAN as the 8211/8212, you can access its web interface using its hostname in the following URL format:
http://<hostname>.local
By default, the 8211/8212 hostname is button-<last 6 digits of the device MAC address>. The MAC address is printed on the back of the device.
For example, if the device MAC address is 00:22:EE:12:34:56:
Default hostname:
button-123456Hostname URL:
http://button-123456.local
If Device Name (Hostname) is lobby8212:
Hostname:
lobby8212Hostname URL:
http://lobby8212.local
You can change the hostname under Advanced Settings → Admin → Device Name (Hostname).
